Desperate to Buy – The Best Real Estate Show on TV

Desperate to Buy – The Best Real Estate Show on TV Contributed by Vickie Tyson

Desperation is one of the most interesting attributes of the human condition. It reveals a lot about our true character, as it is only in the most trying times that we get a look at what we are really capable or incapable of doing. As the saying goes, desperate times call for desperate actions, and this is why “Desperate to Buy” is by far my favorite real estate themed television show.

Desperate to Buy is a docu-drama following the lives of homeowners desperate to buy. Buying for them is like an addiction, one that can only be satiated by purchasing a home. At no point, however, is an intervention sought for these rabid home seekers; they are encouraged to continue on their downward spiral toward home buying madness. This, after all, is what we as the viewer want. We want to see what these people are made of, what limits and extents they will go to get their fix. This is where the show peaks. Every week these families are given the choice of overcoming their desperation or being paralyzed by it, and the results are television gold. I remember one man so desperate that he ended up buying a home at twice the cost of its value, and then was crushed by the real estate crash. It was a riveting piece on the power of the market. I watch Desperate to Buy on satellite TV from direct.tv/direct-tv-packages.html, and you should too.

Sheldon Cooper – TV’s Funniest Character

Sheldon Cooper, TV’s Funniest Character

Written by my friend Constance Hayden

The Big Bang Theory is my favorite situation comedy. I watch the show on CBS on direct tv in florida, and I always record it in case I want to watch it later in the week.

All of the characters on The Big Bang Theory are funny. Sheldon, Leonard, Howard and Raj remind me of the smartest guys I went to high school and college with. Sheldon is the funniest character, but he is also the most annoying. Sheldon is smart in a scary way, and he has weird quirks. For example, he eats certain things on the same day of the week every week, he’s obsessively neat, and I have no idea how his friends tolerate his behavior. There was one episode where he revealed that he must sit in the same spot on the couch, and that he literally cannot change seats. My all-time favorite episode was the one where Sheldon encourages Leonard to help him break into Penny’s apartment because Penny is too messy and Sheldon wants to clean up her space. It was hilarious.

Jim Parsons, the actor who plays Sheldon, just won a well-deserved Emmy for his role. I can’t wait for the show to air new episodes. I think it premieres later this month.
